The line was energised on 8 August 2026, and a 5 MW import was used to test and commission the commercial metering. At the start of September, commercial trade was still waiting on a tariff. No source read shows the line in service after the tests, so the delivery status stays unknown.

Nyasa Times (20 August 2026) reported that Malawi's end-of-July deadline had passed with no power yet flowing into Malawi (its wording is in the evidence below), twelve days after the energisation date that The Nation later gave and ten days after Global Transmission's commissioning date. The reports may use "flowing" for commercial supply rather than a test transfer, but none says so.
